Have you been able to play DVD movies previously without any trouble? You mentioned that you can't play a DVD (movie, I presume). I did a Google search for that error and got tons of hits, but the vast majority of them had to do with the Apple DVD Player app. In the iTunes prefs where it shows your Sony burner: it that a pop-up menu and if so can you change it to your TSSTcorp burner? If not it's probably because you don't have the 'LaCie.drprofile' installed.Īre you sure it's Toast that's telling you it can't find a valid DVD burner? The reason I ask is that I searched Roxio's support forum and I can't find any hits for that error at all. I figured yours was a TSSTcorp burner, but I haven't seen one with that model number before. I've done the Lacie DVD update and The drive stated that the firmware is up to date and doesn’t need updating. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to correct this problem. When I try to make a DVD I get an error message saying, "There was an initialization error A valid DVD drive could not be found. I'm not able to make or watch a DVD, but can listen to a CD. I have the LaCie d2 DVD±RW with LightScribe connected to my Power Mac G4. So now that I'm in the correct location for my problem I've added more info. If iTunes recognizes your burner you should see one of the two TSSTcorp model numbers to the right of 'CD Burner'. Click on the 'Advanced' button and then select the 'Burning' tab. While you're at it, run iTunes and go to the iTunes Preferences. Select that for more detailed info and please tell me what you see. Mine says '_NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG - FireWire'. Just to the left of the arrow, if Toast recognizes the burner, you should see the model number of the mechanism in your d2. In the main Toast window you should see, near the bottom right corner, a green dot/button with a leftward facing arrow. That's why I asked if you could burn with the Finder or iTunes. The first thing we need to determine is whether any app capable of burning a CD or DVD sees your burner.
